The square
Walking along the Decumano Inferiore you will find along the way Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, one of the most important squares of Naples, commissioned by Alfonso I of Naples.
Get the name from church, whose apse borders the northern side of the square, and is dominated byobelisk of San Domenico. The noble palaces overlooking it are Palazzo Petrucci, Palazzo Saluzzo in Corigliano, Palazzo di Sangro di Casacalenda, Palazzo Carafa della Spina and Palazzo di Sangro, to which is added the Church of Sant'Angelo a Nilo in the square same name.
