Days dedicated to the donation of hematopoietic stem cells in the green spaces of the Federico II Polyclinic in Naples.
From 20 to 22 September 2017, the “ From me to you ” initiative will take place at the Federico II Polyclinic in Naples , which involves the outdoor donation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) for the University Hospital.
These are three days in which anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 will be able to go to the gazebos and take a sample of buccal mucosa using a cotton swab.
Naturally, each donation will be completely voluntary, and each donor, up until the moment of collection, can always decide to refuse to undergo the marrow collection if they have changed their mind.
These days, which will take place in the Policlinico's outdoor green spaces , are crucial for raising awareness about hematopoietic stem cell donation, as it is essential for treating the most aggressive blood diseases. In some cases, it is the only way to definitively combat the disease , as the diseased cells are replaced with healthy ones from the donor.
The Federico II Polyclinic has been directly assigned by the Ministry of Health, thanks to a public tender by the Campania Region, to manage the Regional Registry of Bone Marrow Donors, which is now open for registration.
