Procession of San Gennaro in Naples on 6 May 2017 in the historical center
Parade of the busts of San Gennaro and the co-patrons in the historic center of Naples for the 6 May 2017 procession.
The 6 May 2017 will be held the Procession of San Gennaro in which they will honor the Reliquary Bust and the Tempietto containing the blood ampoules of San Gennaro, in addition to the busts depicting the Saints Compatrones.
The event is organized for remember the translation of the Saint's relics from the cemetery located in the Agro Marciano, alle Catacombs of Capodimonte, currently called San Gennaro and the martyr is invoked to perform the miracle of blood liquefaction.
Timeline
Il path will start from Duomo at 17.00 and will continue on the streets of the historic center, touching different stages: Via dei Tribunali, via delle Zite in Forcella, San Biagio dei Librai, piazza San Domenico Maggiore and via Benedetto Croce, up to the Basilica of Santa Chiara.
At the end of the procession, the 18.00 will take place Eucharistic celebration, officiated by the Archbishop of Naples, Crescenzio Sepe. Throughout the following week, in the Royal Chapel of the Treasure, the display case containing the ampoules of the Blood of the patron will be exhibited so that the faithful, and not only, can venerate it by kissing the relics.
