room of the local ratatouille in Naples

Review of Ratatouille, a French brasserie in the characteristic Via Bausan in Naples

UPDATE: the Ratatoiulle restaurant has closed and has been transformed into the King Edward Pub & Grill, also at the same address.

After the elegant, refined and tasty Valù Risotteria, this week we want to review for you another type of room.

It is a French brasserie located in Via Bausan: we are talking about “da RaTaTouille " that, we are sure, will enchant you.

The local

This little place modeled in imitation of the Parisian bistros opens on the very crowded Via Bausan. The interior is very nice, all in wood and with painted walls that portray landscapes and streets of the French capital.

The tables are small, perhaps a little too close to each other but very "typical". In the restaurant, only French-speaking music is played at a pleasant volume.

The menu

RaTaTouille's signature dish is the cheese fondue which can be made to your liking by choosing a basic cheese (Camembert or Roquefort) with vegetables, sausage or salmon. If you do not like cheese, do not worry! The menu is very various and ranges from appetizers to soups (also the famous one Soupe à l'oignon gratinée) until you get to risotto or sandwiches. Whether you are a vegetarian or a meat lover, you will have one here great variety of dishes. If you want to know all the dishes in the restaurant, you can consult the menu.

The onion soup of La Ratatouille

A strong point of this place is the presence of a vast choice for celiac either in foods, like omelettes or grilled meats, or in beers. It is one of the few places in Naples where you can find beer Estrella. Even among the desserts you can find the alternative gluten-free.

The order

Our order, made for two people, began with a mixed fried consisting of cheese filled nuggets, fries, onion rings, crocchè, chicken sticks and chicken nuggets (7,50 €). The mixed fry was really great, in fact we shared it.

Croque Monsieur de la Ratatouille

We went to the famous fondue that was served with croutons (7,50 €) and we got a sandwich Croque Monsieur (6,00 €) that was served with chips and salad. Overall, we can say that it was cheap and tasty because the total price was € 21,50 for two people, so about € 11 per person.

Conclusions

Nothing to object to about the quality / price ratio, which is absolutely excellent. The dishes are good and the service is very courteous. The atmosphere is suitable for romantic dates (many tables are, in fact, for two people) but also for an evening with friends it can be a very valid alternative. If we have to make some criticism, it could be the amazement of finding, alongside typically French dishes, also Sicilian pasta or more purely local dishes.
