The Royal Palace of Carditello reopens to the public, the estate where the prized horses of the kings of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies were bred

After years of neglect and negligence on the part of the competent institutions, the 29 October 2016 reopens the Palace of Carditello.

Thanks to the work of the Real Sito di Carditello Foundation they will be courtyards and gardens are open to the public. We will still have to wait to admire the interiors, at the time embellished with tapestries by Pietro Durante and probably from frescos by Philip Hackert. In fact, the restoration works of the rooms of the Reggia have not been completed.

The opening event is lo equestrian show "Horses and Knights", historical re-enactment that will bring the public back to the ancient peasant uses of the estate. The carabinieri on horseback will perform a fanfare, and it will be possible to attend an essay of the Italian high school. The absolute protagonist will be the horse Persano, equine breed created right in the stables of the real site of Carditello.

The eighteenth century complex, in neoclassical style, is part of the estate destined by Charles of Bourbon as a hunting place, later transformed into farm model. The kings of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies made it a mansion in which to breed fine breeds of horses and cattle. Other activities practiced were the cultivation of wheat and the manipulation of dairy products.
