In today's review we will talk about a local high cuisine and slow food, located in the historic center of Naples: Timpani and Tempura.

The local

Hidden in one of the thousand streets of the historic center, near Piazza del Gesù, we can find this very special place, one of the times of Slow Food. “Timpani e tempura” is a local of high gastonomia Neapolitan, as defined by the owners Antonio and Lucio Tubelli who want to rehabilitate and ennoble the ancient art of Neapolitan street cooking.

The peculiarity of this small restaurant is just the quality and the study of every single dish, fromingredients, possibly at Km zero, to the rediscovery of flavors to which he is absolutely not used to.

The formula for eating is not the typical one: for lunch there are dishes cooked daily and very varied while for dinner there is the formula "Cenotto". It is possible to call to organize a completely personalized dinner for two to eight people.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays, by order, you can taste the famous Tempura which, as we have discovered, derives from a monastic word “Témpora” brought to the East by the Jesuit missionaries.

The menu

Have you ever tasted the "scammaro“? We found out to be an omelette made without the use of eggs, topped with black olives, capers and cheese, very good! And which of us as a child waited for Sunday to try grandma's meatballs or lasagna? We have rediscovered the typical flavors in a small and welcoming environment. The menu varies from season to season.

 

 

Conclusions

For those who are attentive to the flavors or the origin of the food this place is perfect. Undoubtedly it is not the usual restaurant or pub but for the curious who will want to discover the flavors of a tradition almost lost or for those attentive to the Slow Food this is the right place.
