Festivals in Campania | Feast of white artichoke and market exhibition (Salerno)

We've talked a lot about the festivals in Naples and its province , but today we'd like to broaden our horizons to include a Salerno specialty. The fourth White Artichoke Festival, with a related market and exhibition, will be held in Auletta (SA) from May 3 to 5, 2013 , to promote the local area's typical products.

The peasant culture is at home in those areas, together with the agricultural production of this vegetable, characteristic because it has no thorns, round and with large inflorescences, with a color tending to silver.

The organoleptic qualities of the white artichoke are renowned, together with its sweet flavour , which make it appetising even raw, perhaps enjoyed with a drop of local extra virgin olive oil, the DOP of the Salerno hills.
