Have you ever tasted a pizza in the dark? Take the opportunity to do it at Sorbillo, in a solidarity dinner where you listen, taste, touch, smell
The Association Univoc, Italian National Union Volontari pro Ciechi, in collaboration with the social cooperative Pasepartout Naples, has organized a series of solidarity dinners "in the dark" with the aim of sensitizing the able-bodied people to the world of the blind, to discover the perceptual and sensorial capacities of those who rely on all the senses except to the sight.
The initiative is called Hidden flavors, because it is mainly aimed at creating a marriage between sensations and gastronomy, because it is precisely at the table that all the senses of the human being "turn on", such as smell and taste. Deprived of sight, in a room with strictly off lights, guests wishing to participate in events are invited to take their seats and taste the dishes that are served to them. In an experience that turns out to be an extraordinary game in which to recognize smells and flavors, in a special atmosphere that amplifies all the senses.
The next appointment of Hidden flavors will be held at the historic pizzeria Gino Sorbillo the November 19, where you can take the opportunity to enjoy a pizza with lights off without the menu being announced. A different evening in which you can listen, smell, touch and taste without ever seeing what is on your plate. We will realize that the most “neglected” senses in everyday life will be stimulated, when we give greater prominence to sight which, in gastronomic experiences, assumes a minor role compared to taste and smell.
Participants will be served by blind waiters that will put diners at ease by accustoming them to a different approach to a daily experience, such as, in this case, a dinner. Dinner will have a fixed cost of 16 euro and the proceeds will go to charity to the associations.
The next appointment with Hidden flavors instead it will be held at the trattoria Osteria Antichi Sapori in vico Mastelloni (near Piazza Dante) the next November 29 at 20: 00.
