Special on the coronation of King Charles on channel 5, that's when

Saturday 29 April 2023, in the late evening on Channel 5, the special Tg5 will be broadcast "God Save The King“, dedicated to the imminent coronation of Charles III as "King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of the other realms of the Commonwealth". The event is scheduled for 6st May at Westminster Abbey.

In reality, the program will be broadcast during the TG5 special at 00.32 hours, then it will already be fired on 30 April 2023.

Insights and guests

The program, edited by Claudius Fig and conducted by Dario Maltese, will offer an in-depth analysis of the figure of Charles III, whose inauguration will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey, London. In the studio, they will be present Enrica Roddolo e Antonio Caprarica.

The special will trace the history of the coronations and outline the preparations for Charles's swearing-in and the roles of members of the Windsor family, particularly William. Also, the location of will be discussed Harry, the "rebel prince", and the role of the future Queen Camilla.

The profile of Charles III

Much of the special will be dedicated to the portrait of Charles III, a controversial figure and considered too old to be really loved by the people. Born as Charles Philip Arthur George on 14 November 1948 at Buckingham Palace, he ascended the throne on 8 September 2022, following the death of his mother, the Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles was heir to the British throne from 6 February 1952 to 8 September 2022, becoming the longest-serving heir to the throne in English history, surpassing Edward VII. Finally, Charles III is the oldest King of the United Kingdom at the time of taking office, at 73, surpassing William IV, who ascended the throne at 64.
