Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry and Far Cry will be Netflix Anime

Devil May Cry Netflix

The world of video games and animation are increasingly becoming one, thanks to the incursion of Netflix in the territory of famous video game titles. The event Drop 01 has opened the doors to a trilogy of animated projects that promise to bring the essence of some famous video game sagas directly to our screens.

Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft

Our beloved explorer, Lara Croft, returns in a renewed guise, ready to reveal ancient mysteries in the world of animation. The rawness and tension of the latest Tomb Raider video game adventures also seem to transpire through the trailer of this promising animated series. The collaboration between Netflix e Legendary seems to be the key to bringing Lara back to a new stage, while Crystal Dynamics e Amazon work in unison for the next chapter of the video game, promising a rebirth in style for our heroine.

It must be said, however, that of the three, this one it's the one that feels least like an "anime" compared to the others, given that the aesthetic, design and graphic standards do not correspond to anime but more to American animation.

Devil May Cry, a new Anime in sight

The charismatic Dante Alighieri is ready to return, this time on the small screen, with his sword and his bold attitude. While the trailer didn't reveal much, the energy and action did devil may cry a milestone in the world of video games, seem to have also been captured in this animated transposition, the result of the collaboration between Mir studio e Capcom.

We remind you that Devil May Cry It was already released in an anime version in 2007 with a transposition that, according to many, it left users a little disappointed.

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix

The nostalgic trip to the 80s continues with “Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix”, based on the cult expansion of Far Cry 3. Dolph Laserhawk, our cybernetic super soldier, is ready to fight against the forces of Eden in a series of adventures that promise action and unforgettable cameos from icons of Ubisoft.

Will they be a flop? Netflix sometimes disappoints on anime

It's no secret that some of Netflix's previous forays into the world of Japanese animation were not warmly welcomed. Just look at the recent remake of “Bastard!“, definitely different from the original work, although it was positively received by the public in terms of views and renewed for a third season, there is always a lot of detachment.

With these new proposals the streaming platform seems determined to offer something original, while remaining faithful to the gaming heritage, hoping that the products will not be compromised from which they draw inspiration based on a mere "catchy title".

It must be said that the Live Action on OnePiece challenged the paradigm, as the product was really well made. But since the creator, Oda, was involved, perhaps it was more of an isolated case than a real change of direction.

Only time will tell whether these projects will be able to win the hearts of fans or whether they will end up on Netflix's list of missed opportunities.
