Fraud on the elderly in Naples pretending to be grandchildren in difficulty, arrested

While the city of Naples was still immersed in sleep, at dawn a group of Carabinieri was already in full action.

This isn't the plot of an action movie, but the story of a real-life operation aimed at dismantling a criminal organization that had specialized in defrauding the elderly. Using the cunning mechanism of the " fake grandson ," the group had operated undisturbed for over a year.

Details of the police operation

In a decisive move, the handcuffs were snapped on and five individuals were taken into custody. Thanks to collaboration with the judicial authorities , the Carabinieri uncovered 25 incidents of fraud.

One striking detail is the geographic distribution: it's not just small towns, but an area encompassing the provinces of Naples, Caserta, Salerno, and Latina . Each member of the organization had a specific task, making the whole operation a well-orchestrated one.

A real scam telephone hub

Right in the heart of Naples' historic center, investigators discovered what could be described as the "brain" of the operation : a telephone hub. Calls to future victims were placed from this exchange.

Once contact was made, the information was passed to accomplices in the field , who then completed the scam.

How many people were arrested and what was confiscated

In addition to the five main protagonists, the toll of the handcuffs included five other people, arrested in flagrante delicto. But justice didn't stop there.

Approximately 11.000 euros in cash and various valuables were seized , which were promptly returned to the victims of the scam.
