A free guided tour of the Roman Theater of Neapolis in the historic center of Naples!

The April 18 2018 It will be organized by the Superintendency of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of the Municipality of Naples, one free extraordinary visit to the Roman Theater of Neapolis, located between Via Anticaglia, Via S. Paolo ai Tribunali, Vico Cinquesanti of Naples.

The theater is datable in the 1 sec. d. C. and has an extraordinary level of conservation in the construction of oldest part of the historic center of Naples. Following the excavation, it is possible to see that, overlooking the city's forum, there was the theater district where both musical and dramatic performances took place.

You can admire the Odeion, a covered structure, and the open theater. Entering more inside you can see the two corridors (ambulacri), on which the service rooms (wedges), the access stairs to the upper part of the terraces (media and summa cavea), the communicating rooms with the lower seats reserved for illustrious characters (vomitoria), and an extended portion of the uncovered cavea.

Instead on the outside, there are the white steps of the theater and the current old buildings characterized by the hanging clothes that connect two opposite buildings and that draw colored spots in the sky.
