An unmissable opportunity to discover the Roman Baths of via Terracina in Naples with free guided tours!
Sunday 9 October 2016, with subsequent appointments also in November and December, free guided tours will take place at Roman baths of Via Terracina a Napoli, organized by the volunteers of GAN, the Neapolitan Archaeological Group. The other dates will be 12 and 13 November, 10 and 11 December 2016, 21 and 22 January 2017.
They are a little known complex, discovered in the 1939 but that date back to the first half of the II century AD., and were powered by the Serino aqueduct. Mosaic flooring has been found whose theme is the meeting and subsequent marriage between Poseidon and Amphitrite.
Some are visible during the journey tabernaea latrine with mosaic floor depicting two dolphins and a marine animal, a rectangular room that served as a apodyterium (locker room).
At the bottom we arrive in the frigidarium (for cold water baths), with a mosaic floor depicting a procession of fantastic animals with in the corners of the dolphins and the area of the rooms until you reach the calidarium (where there were hot or steam baths).
