A well deserved and beautiful new one tribute to the great Massimo Troisi: in San Giorgio a Cremano one was revealed to the public statue dedicated to the never forgotten Neapolitan actor.
Its on his birthday, on February 19, the authorities headed by the mayor Giorgio Zinno, discovered the statue that shows us our Massimo in the guise of Il Postino, his latest interpretation, with alongside the trusty bicycle always present in the 1994 film.
The presentation of this beautiful work was also attended by the former parliamentarian Bruno Cesario, the deputy mayor Eva Lambiase and the councilor for culture Pietro De Martino.
The statue and mural of Jorit
The new statue dedicated to Troisi is a natural size and it is right in front of the mural created by street artist Jorit and that it always represents Massimo Troisi. Jorit's work is on the facade of what was once Palazzo Bruno, the actor's birthplace.
The statue was made by the master Carlo Ciavolino and was kept in the former Righetti Foundry.
To give even greater prominence to the two works, both the Palace and the statue will be illuminated adequately, so that they can always be admired.
The plaque dedicated to Massimo
In addition to the statue, one was also discovered plaque dedicated to Massimo Troisi. It is always found on the facade of the building, where the mural of Jorit is and it reads:
In this place stood Palazzo Bruno, demolished in the 70s, where the great artist was born on February 19, 1953 Massimo Troisi.
Then follows a quote from Ettore Scola:
Massimo Troisi, an intellectual who restored nobility to the southern soul. Hector Scola.
In short, a really beautiful and moving way to remember one of the most important artists of our history, a man who was not only an actor, but also a director, a poet, an intellectual and a profound and human person.
