In the Gulf of Naples the start of sailing regattas to qualify for the 2015 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro!
It will take place in the sea facing the Rotonda Diaz of Naples the Italian Championships Olympic Classes of sailing (CICO), one of the last challenges to access the next ones Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016.
The races will be held from the 17 to the 20 September 2015, while the opening ceremony will take place on 16 September at 19.00.
In addition to the qualifications, the athletes will be able to win the titles of the respective sailing classes.
The suggestive Gulf of Naples will, therefore, be once again the natural location of an important international event.
To sail about 250 sailors divided into 10 types of boats and, for the first time, the ASD “Peepul Sport Onlus” will also compete with the athletes Franco Fiorino and Anna Bari, by Ponticelli. They are the unique southern athletes who participate for the 2,4mR class and Anna, as mentioned, is the only disabled person present and aims to qualify for the Paralympic classes.
The regatta fields
The area in which the competition will take place will be between Castel dell'Ovo and Capo Posillipo, to ensure the best possible view to all viewers. On the other hand, there will be five regatta courses and the intense challenges of the hundreds of participants will take place within them.
The village of sailing
On the occasion of the sailing championship, a real sailing village will also be set up, at the Rotonda Diaz, open to public. It will be a space of more than 5000mq in front of the regatta fields and well equipped where the various teams will also have their own stations and with numerous promotional stands including those of the Parthenope University, the Navy and the Canale 21 broadcaster that every evening will summarize the races with the presence of the samples in the studio.
One will also be hosted photographic exhibition on the Olympic races of the 1960 in Naples.
