Sunday 4 September 2022 the fifty-seventh edition of the eagerly awaited marathon will take place Capri-Naples, an event for fans of swimming and sports in general, against the backdrop of the Gulf of Naples.

It is an official international race, the course of which runs over a distance of well 36 km as the crow flies, one of the most difficult and for this reason one of the best known in the world. The International Federation of Long Distance Swimming has elected the crossing as a single test for the award of the title of champion or world champion in long distance swimming.

It will depart at 10:15 from The Ondine of Marina Grande in Capri to then arrive at the Naples waterfront, at the Rowing Club, at 16:15. The duration of the race, in fact, should be about 6 hours. The sponsor of the 2022 edition will be Pharmacosm.

The history of the Capri-Naples Marathon

The Capri-Naples Marathon was born in 1949, when two swimming enthusiasts, that is Aldo Fioravanti and Cesare Alfieri, for the first time in the world they travel the Naples-Capri route in 12 hours, with an average of 30 strokes per minute.

Only a few years later, in 1954, the crossing definitively acquired the title of the race, being organized by the newspaper The morning. Between 1993 and 2002 the competition was suspended to be resumed only in 2003. Since then the competition has been managed by the Agency Eventually - Events and Communication together with the Possibly Acquatics association.
