Three ancient tunnels from the Greek era, also used by the Romans, discovered on the seabed adjacent to the Castel dell'Ovo!

An incredible archaeological discovery it was made in the depths where the Castel dell'Ovo in Naples and concerns a magnificent treasure hidden so far in the water. It is about three galleries, about five meters long and about one meter wide and which are located three meters deep on the western side of the Castle.

The archaeologists are to say the least enthusiastic because in this way a step forward is made in the knowledge of what is the coast that goes from Monte di Procida to Punta Campanella. These tunnels would be of Greek era, but also used in the following centuries by the Romans and that, according to the first theories formulated, they served for transport the pozzolana stone that was extracted from the backdrop.

Tunnel which until now nobody knew anything about and which are crossed by the tuff crest. The discovery was made possible by the research carried out in collaboration between Marenostrum Archeoclub d'Italia, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the Archaeological Superintendency of Campania.

Diving

Thanks to this discovery it will be possible to make every Saturday and Sunday, a series of dives at your own expense to admire the incredible underwater landscape and the new galleries. There will be no sponsors in fact and currently we have no other information about it, so keep following us for updates.

Staying on the subject of economic funds, research needs an additional budget to be able to move forward. There is talk of about 20000 euros which we hope will be available soon to continue the work, especially to understand if there is theancient coastline.
