Film screenings under the stars at the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory with the film club "Science and Fiction"

Until 3 December 2014 astronomy and cinema will create a magical combination ofAstronomical Observatory of Capodimonte, to propose to visitors and spectators a different approach to scientific issues, starting above all from the sense of wonder that science fiction has always managed to arouse.

Il film club Science and Fiction, this is the title of the original review, will be structured in cycles of 4 films per theme. The first cycle of screenings has as its subtitle “Meetings“, Inspired by the great cinematic theme of the encounter with the“ alien ”and communication with extraterrestrial entities or intelligences.

Before the start of each film it will be possible visit the planetarium and the museum, while at the end of each screening a researcher will answer any questions from the public on the topics covered. At the end of the evening, in case of good weather, there will be observations to the telescopes by the UAN (Unione Astrofili Napoletani).

  • 19.00 hours, visit to the planetarium / museum
  • 20.00 hours, short presentation of the film about 10 minutes that will precede the screening
  • 22.30, questions from the public. Following observation of the sky

Price tickets:

  • Euro 5 for each single projection, visit to the planetarium / museum and observation to the telescopes
  • Free for children under the age of 16
