Finally the ugly ecomostro which is located towards the end of the Lungomare di Pozzuoli will be demolished after about 40 years of waiting. A truly historic event that was eagerly awaited and whose felling operations have already begun.
Although the history of the buildings built in that place is more than a hundred years old, as we will see shortly, the birth of this eco-monster dates back to the 80s and since then it has never been completed or demolished.
It is called by all "Close to Mmare”From the name of the previous restaurant that was built about 50 years ago and then closed in 1973. Now the mayor of Pozzuoli Vincenzo Figliolia has declared that there will finally be the demolition and the Lungomare can be completely freed.
The urban redevelopment project was approved in August and funds from the PIUEuropa abatement program will be used. They will be spent 2 million and 500 thousand euros.
What will there be after the killing
When the structure is torn down, one will be built in its place beautiful square by the sea with a promenade, benches, a fountain and the whole will integrate perfectly with the existing Lungomare which for some years has also been extended to the foot of the Rione Terra.
Thus, the walk will be truly one and only, starting from via Napoli and then reaching the Rione Terra, as mentioned.

The history of the eco-monster
The first time a building was in 1600 with the birth of a convent of the Capuchin friars. After about two centuries, the friars left the structure due to the bradyseism which even then caused inconvenience and dangers. In addition, there were also the dangers due to the erosion of sea water.
So, after about two centuries, at the end of the 800th century, one was built tavern after the purchase of the building by a restaurateur. Subsequently, the construction came called Vicienz 'a Mmare. For a time it was also used by directors to shoot films.
His story ended in 1973 because it closed and was demolished.
Since then, give it years '80, was bought by new ones owners who had very good intentions: to build a center polyvalent. Yet, everything stopped immediately due to building abuses and the building was never completed, leaving us still today this ugly skeleton that also pollutes the landscape.
