Eurofighter crashed in Sicily: the pilot died, he was from Caserta
A very serious one accident involved the Air Force, an investigation will be launched to assess the conditions of the episode relating to the Eurofighter fighter crashed on December 13, 2022, belonging to the 37th Wing of Trapani.
Who was the deceased pilot
In the impact Fabio Antonio Altruda has passed away, a young man of 33 years originally from Caserta. He was returning to base after a training mission, something ordinary for those in that profession. Especially ordinary for an experienced driver like Fabio, who entered the academy in 2007, he had hours and hours of flying behind him also in missions abroad.
Since March 2021 he was in force at the 37th Wing of Trapani.
Shortly before landing, however, the drama: the fighter crashed to the ground without ejection of the pilot.
What happened and why did it crash
The dynamics are not yet clear, if it was an illness of the pilot or external agents, the Air Force will investigate this. As it turns out there was no ejection of the pilot.
