First guided tour to discover the Porta Capuana district, exploring monuments, churches, artistic and cultural beauties and Neapolitan culinary wonders

Naples is a city full of hidden treasures, which need to be valued and promoted, in order to better spread their artistic and cultural importance, among tourists but also among Neapolitan citizens themselves.

It is with these premises that the I Love Porta Capuana project, with the purpose of to rediscover Porta Capuana and its district, the most important entrance to the city of Naples in the fifteenth century and still today rich in popular traditions, history, culture, art and gastronomy.

Moreover such urban regeneration project it aims to create a network of synergies between the inhabitants, entrepreneurs and social actors of the neighborhood to activate processes of active transformation capable of enhancing local wealth, producing income and preserving the economic and social fabric of the district.

Lanificio 25 Association in Naples, guided tours to Porta Capuana

The cultural association Lanificio 25 he then organized a series of guided tours in the Porta Capuana district, through tours and walks among the sites of historical, artistic, culinary and artisan interest in the area. Participants will thus be able to walk along streets and squares to discover the beauty that is contained in these places, including churches, palaces, legends and hidden gardens, but also the colors, smells and flavors of this district full of surprises.

It will be possible to visit the churches of Santa Caterina in Formiello, San Giovanni in Carbonara, Castel Capuano and the less touristy part of the major decumanus, exploring an old and new Naples and covering the ancient city walls. The cultural visit will be accompanied by tastings of typical Neapolitan dishes, such as fried pizza, mussel soup, “o 'purpo broth” and all sorts of delicious Neapolitan desserts such as babà, pastiera and sfogliatelle.

Guided tours to discover the Rione Porta Capuana they will be held to leave from December 2013 and until January 2014, every Friday and Saturday. The first inaugural visit, scheduled for 14 December 2013, is free admission and will start at 11: 00.

The appointment is at 10:45 am at Lanificio 25 in Piazza Enrico De Nicola, 46. Reservations are required.
