Italy and Argentina will play the Copa Diego Armando Maradona in Naples. The news is official.

A proposal that until a few hours ago seemed like a distant dream, but in a very short time it will transform into an exclusive event of worldwide appeal , with our city at its center.

Last Sunday was a historic day, as Argentina and Italy both took home two major awards. Argentina beat Brazil to lift the Copa America crown, while Italy topped the EURO 2020 championship by beating England.

Hence the crazy idea: to create an event that focuses on the myth that unites the two countries, the two winning teams. We're obviously talking about Diego Armando Maradona.

The Copa Diego Armando Maradona is officially a reality, as confirmed by FIFA , which has accepted the proposal. The two national teams that won the European Championship and the Copa America, respectively , will face each other in Naples , in December or January at the latest , in honor of their great champion, who passed away prematurely last November.

Naples will host one of the most important events in the history of football.
