Julia Ituma dies falling from the balcony, a tragedy in Italian volleyball

Devastating news strikes the world of Italian volleyball and sport: young promise Julia Ituma died in the night in Istanbul. The 18-year-old, a member of Igor Novara and of the Italian youth national teams, fell from the window of the hotel room where she was staying with the team, after playing in the semi-final of the women's Champions League against Eczacibasi. The tragic news was confirmed through the social channels of the Novara club.

Causes of the accident still unknown, for Turkey it is suicide

The causes that led to it are not yet known to the fatal accident, and further details were not disclosed.
The players and the staff of Igor Novara had returned to the hotel in Istanbul after losing the second leg of the Champions League semi-final 3-0 against the strong Turkish players of Eczacibasi. Julia Ituma entered the field during the game, scoring 2 points, which would prove to be her last.

Some Turkish journalistic sources are already talking about suicide but the news has no confirmation official, nor have the facts been established.

Who was Julia Ituma

Born in Milan on October 8, 2004 to Nigerian parents, Ituma was in his first season with Novara, after being part of Club Italia.
The young spiker had won in September the Under 19 European Championships with the blue shirt, being the absolute protagonist of the starting sextet. In the final, Julia had dominated the match against Serbia, scoring 21 points.

A promise of world volleyball

Ituma was considered a future star of Italian and international volleyball, so much so that she was compared to Paola Egonu, although she played in a different role (spinner instead of opposite).

Over one meter and 90 tall and with one more than three meters off the ground, Julia had all the characteristics to make her dreams come true in the world of volleyball.

Unfortunately, a tragic night away from home abruptly ended his young life, leaving the entire Italian sporting world stunned.
