Tours in the Bourbon Gallery
The routes that can be followed in the Bourbon Gallery are the Standard Route, the Via delle Memorie, the Adventure Route and the Speleo Light.
Let's see them in detail.
The standard route
It is accessed from Via D. Morelli, 61 (pedestrian entrance to the Morelli car park), it lasts 1 hour and you will cross the tuff aqueduct areas, as well as three bridges and tuff walls built by the Bourbons to cross the cisterns. You will observe fragments of statues, vintage cars and motorcycles found over time and dating back to the Second World War, when the place was used as a refuge.
The Way of Memories
It is not accessible to everyone because there are no stairs and can be accessed from Via Monte di Dio n ° 14 - Palazzo Serra di Cassano c / o Interno A14. It lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It starts from the octagonal courtyard and from the staircase of Palazzo Serra di Cassano to arrive in the spaces managed by Interno A14 where once there was the carpentry of the Palazzo. Then, we go underground to discover the "Naples below" between tunnels and cisterns, even in the aqueduct where there is the large cistern full of water.
The adventure trail
Not recommended for those suffering from heart problems and claustrophobia. It is accessed from Via Morelli, 61 (pedestrian entrance to the Morelli car park) and lasts 1 hour and 25 minutes.
A helmet and a torch are needed to visit the cistern from the 1400s which can be reached via a tunnel called "Pizzofalcone". You return to the Gallery through the car hall and you arrive at the second cistern up to its bottom where the aquifer emerges. You go through eighteenth-century arches to get to the pilot tunnel of the former LTR up to the boarding of the raft. On it we will navigate until the end of the nineteenth-century excavation.
The Speleo Light
You will become real speleologists and you will cross tanks still partially full of water. Through a long walk in the tunnels of the Bolla aqueduct you reach other rooms with engravings made by the pozzari. The guides often change the itineraries of this route to always show new environments rediscovered after the excavations.
