The story of the Prince of Sansevero Raimondo di Sangro, between reality, history and fantastic reworking, staged in Naples at the former hospital of Peace
It will be represented from the 28 30 March 2014 at the 'former Peace Hospital in via dei Tribunali, a fascinating show on the history of the Prince of Sansevero, a mysterious and enigmatic figure of the culture and tradition of the Neapolitan eighteenth century, whose name, linked to the famous Chapel of Sansevero, has always evoked esotericism, alchemy and mystery.
Sansevero, noli me tàngere, this is the title of the performance curated by the cultural association "Mani e Vulcani", focuses on the night in which the Holy Office knocked at Palazzo Sansevero, with the intention of putting an end to Raimondo de Sangro's blasphemous experiments, which risked creating a conflict between two opposite worlds, that of faith and that of research.
But the Prince of Sansevero still managed to complete his research and in one night, in which he crowned his dream as a scientist by giving birth to an artificially fertilized woman. Attacked by the Jesuits in his palace, he then managed to escape, leaving a woman, Mariangela Ardinghelli, a figure who also holds the role of collaborator, councilor and perhaps de Sangro's lover, his writings and notes, to prevent them from falling into enemy hands. .
The event Sansevero, noli me tàngere continues the larger project that aims to revive the characters of Naples in the places where they really lived. A show that moves between fantasy and historical truth and that leaves the audience with a message through the words of Raimondo de Sangro himself:
"If not I, others will penetrate the secrets of nature and if not now, time will come that the created will be torn and crumbled, the barbarism of the times does not do me justice, but, even within a thousand years my venture will come collected by another man "
