La Full moon it is one of the phases of the moon that cyclically, approximately every four weeks, presents itself to our eyes in all its majesty.

Observing the Full Moon is always a very romantic moment and every time we put our nose up to look at it in all its charm, we are ecstatic.

Everything is made even more magical by special events such as this month since we will be able to observe the so-called Deer Supermoon. Although "Superluna" is a scientifically improper term, it gives an idea of what we mean because the Moon it will appear bigger and brighter to us this month, precisely on July 13, 2022, and will also be the largest and brightest of all 2022.

What is the Superluna

We are talking, in this case, of Superluna (remember that it is not a scientific term) because the Moon, on the night of July 13, will be in the point of minimum distance from the Earth, that is, in his Perigee. It happens every year in this period, between June and July, and our satellite will be at a distance of about 357.300 km from our planet, appearing bigger to us.

All 20.37 hours there will be the actual phase of the Full Moon and just around that time it will appear slightly larger and brighter than usual.

Because it is called Superluna del Cervo

This Moon is called the Deer since it derives its name from ancient Native American traditions. According to their lunar calendar, each month they gave a different name to the satellite according to the phase of the harvest or following important moments in the life of their tribes. The Deer Moon falls in July because it is the month in which the antlers, i.e. the horns, of male deer reach their maximum size. It happens right in the mating season and each time they come off and then grow back large and branched again.

Il Lungomare Caracciolo, always very suggestive, it is ideal for observing the Superluna, perhaps together with your sweetheart, against the backdrop of the Gulf.

Belvedere of San Martino

From the Belvedere of San Martino to Vomero the view is beautiful and it is also wonderful to raise your eyes to the sky to admire our romantic satellite.

The Camaldoli area is the highest in the city and is also one of the most isolated. This makes the observation of the sky better and better, even if the Superluna will not be difficult to admire thanks to its brightness.

On the coast of Varcaturo and Lago Patria, but also on the Miseno side, we can lie down on the beach, sipping an aperitif, and enjoy the beautiful show of the Full Moon.
