Friday 28 October 2022 Naples will take to the streets to say NO to the war in Ukraine and to shout aloud that we are in favor of a "ceasefire".
The appointment is for the morning of Friday in Piazza Plebiscito at 11.00 for a great event promoted by the Campania Region to which hundreds of municipalities have joined, including our city of course. There is also a temporary traffic device.
The President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca, satisfied promoter of the event, declared that
This demonstration obviously does not confuse the responsibilities relating to the war in Ukraine. We have said and reconfirmed that there is one clear and exclusive responsibility of Russia in the start of this war that has upset the world balance. But what was supposed to be a short war in Russia's intentions has been dragging on for months now, causing dramatic repercussions, first of all against the Ukrainian people and in the economy and in the energy market on a world level.
Fear of the use of nuclear weapons
Also President De Luca said he was very worried about the possibility of the use of atomic weapons because Russia has already annexed 4 regions of Ukraine, speaking of a probable use of tactical nuclear weapons in the country. Nuclear weapons have always been a totally hypothetical element in the world scenario but, again in the words of De Luca, "has become in Europe a possible element in its realization. In other words, we are approaching, one step at a time, a situation of such danger that we can even foresee the use of atomic weapons. We have a duty to take the initiative, we cannot slip almost by force of inertia towards a nuclear war".
That is why we are all invited to express our dissent on Friday 28 October.
