The Monumental Complex of San Severo al Pendino in Naples hosts the 2017 Crib Exhibition, an exhibition that combines art, religion and Neapolitan tradition for Christmas.
From November 26 2017 6 to January 2018 il Complex of San Severo al Pendino in Naplesin via Duomo, will host the usual and now famous Exhibition of Art Presepiale, now in its XXXII edition. An event that aims to keep the crib art alive by combining the tradition and skill of the craftsmen with religion.
Il crib in Naples has a very long history, dates back to the sixteenth century one of his first appearances but is in the eighteenth century that is perfected and every single piece taken care of in the smallest details. From shepherds to sets, everything is done by hand with care and passion by the artisans who have transformed the representation of the nativity into an artistic tradition that is still very much felt by Neapolitans today.
The exhibition is promoted byItalian Association of Friends of the Presepio di Napoli, founded in 1954 and which gathers all lovers of the Nativity scene. The first headquarters of the association was born in Rome in 1953 and since then it has been promoting workshops, courses, exhibitions and activities that highlight the historical, religious, artistic and cultural aspects of the Nativity scene.
