The evocative location of the Museum of the Underground of Naples, located in Piazza Cavour, will host the theatrical show in its spaces Beautiful and Damned, inspired by the second novel signed by the famous American writer Francis Scott Fitzgerald and published in the 1922.

It is a real dive into the past, in the America of the 20s, 30s and 40s, to the rhythm of jazz and punctuated by the words of writers who are part of the literary atmosphere of the time: Edgar Lee Masters, Ernest Hemingway , William Faulkner and Ezra Pound.

Beautiful and damned offers the leitmotif to a scenic text that mixes music and words, announced by a preface in which the protagonist (Francesco Puccio, also director of the show) presents himself as a figure halfway between a failed writer and a navigator, lost among the plots of existence.

The same author of the text and curator of the show Camilla Stellato says:

He is someone who has traveled a lot in the wake of the dream of becoming a writer, but as he reaches mature age he realizes that he has failed in his intent. Because he understands that the will is not enough to become a writer, one must be born into it

He thus becomes one who lends his voice to the stories of others, rather than telling of his own, an individual who could be anyone, whose true name is never revealed. And he tells the stories of the authors he loved and who pushed him to travel the world, creating a metamorphic and surreal plot. It will arrive in a city that has no geographical location and could be any city, at any time and in any place.

The show continues on the heels of poetry reading, accompanied by the notes of Dario Basta's piano, capable of creating a warm and welcoming background. The background is the "Roaring Twenties" and the disillusionment of the American dream.

In conclusion, another literary quote: an excerpt from The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean by Alessandro Baricco.

Beautiful and Damned it reveals a continuous flow of artistic languages that mix with each other to give life to an impalpable and suggestive dramaturgy, which never seems to reach a definitive conclusion.

Accompany the words and the notes of the show a good glass of Piedirosso and tastings of Provolone del Monaco offered to all spectators.
