Contemporary Summer in Naples: Free Mother Museum for the entire month of August! Four exhibitions in progress

Il Mother Museum of Naples, under the new direction of Andrea Villani, continues its relaunch on the territory through many innovations that concern not only its external image, but which include some strategic choices that completely reinvent the use of contemporary art in the city.

To bring citizens closer to art, but also occasional visitors, enthusiasts and tourists, the Mother Museum will remain open for the entire month of August with free admission! An unmissable opportunity to spend a summer dedicated to contemporary art, to admire the new layout of the museum, to visit the four current exhibitions and, why not, to take refuge from the scorching heat that oppresses the city and enjoy the fresh air of the Madre rooms.

The Department of Education of the Mother Museum will organize, for the entire month of August educational tours of the current exhibitions aimed at all visitors from 17 onwards, with the guidance of an educational operator of the museum.

Thomas Bayrle

All in one - All in one

The largest retrospective dedicated to the German artist Thomas Bayrle, one of the leading exponents of contemporary Pop Art. His subjects are the symbols of capitalist and communist society, the mechanisms of globalization and mass society, expressed through gigantic paintings, collages, kinetic machines, mechanical installations, graphic and editorial production, architectural models.

Mario Garcia Torres

Boetti's lesson (looking for One Hotel, Kabul)

Exhibition dedicated to the Mexican artist who lived for eight years at the One Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan, the Italian artist's place of residence Alighiero Boetti. On display all the works of Torres produced during those years, plus some works by Boetti selected by him that will be part of the permanent collection of the Mother.

Intermedium

The largest solo show dedicated to the Neapolitan artist in an Italian public institution. On display works from the early 90s to today, including paintings, photographs, videos, site-specific installations, which reveal the versatility of the artist and offer an overview of a creative process that has not yet ended but which is still open to new senses and meanings, with constant attention to the city of Naples.

To_form a #1 collection

First chapter of a project intended to implement the first permanent collection of the Mother Museum, whose works and artists are chosen according to two aspects: active relationship between artist and audience, writing as primary expression of interpersonal language. The collection will never be complete but in continuous evolution, to make the museum a place where artistic languages ​​meet and dialogue, meeting and participation between artists and experiences.

Re_Public Mother

It is the museum room, located on the ground floor, designed to become one "Social room", a place for dialogue and comparison with the city and visitors. Inside there are:

Camera_Critica

A small environment with a microphone and a video camera in which every visitor can leave comments, opinions, suggestions on the museum, on contemporary art, ideas and proposals on the “museum I would like”. A place for discussion that will take into account the reflections of the public to make the museum offer always updated and suitable for the context in which it is located.

Lavagna Campania_Contemporanea

A huge blackboard placed on one wall of the showroom all the places of art in Naples and its province, extending from the Campi Flegrei to Salerno, constantly updated with the birth and development of new realities on the territory.
