Floating lanterns ceremony on the Naples waterfront to commemorate the 6 atomic disaster on August 1945

This evening, August 6th, 2013, in Naples, in Piazza Vittoria, the ceremony will be held The Hiroshima Sun to commemorate the victims of the atomic holocaust of 1945.

Naples like Hiroshima, where every year on this day the anniversary of the atomic disaster is celebrated with the typical floating lanterns, in a context that is both nostalgic and suggestive.

This evening's event is organized by nipponica, Japanese culture festival that promotes relations between Italy and Japan by proposing events in our country and showing the different aspects of Japanese culture and society. The Hiroshima Sun it is sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Japan, the Municipality of Naples, the Honorary Consulate General of Japan in Naples and the University of Naples "L'Orientale".

The appointment is in Piazza Vittoria at 21, to the Broken column on the promenade, where they will be distributed to all the participants of the floating lanterns, according to the ceremony of Buddhist origin that usually concludes the feast dedicated to the ancestors, the Obon. The paper lanterns can be decorated with drawings or phrases to express a wish or to send a particular message. They will then be lit all together and entrusted to the current of the sea, as a sign of good omen.

Il proceeds from the funds collected will be donated to the Japanese Watanoha Smile Association which deals with the reconstruction after the tsunami of March 2011, and to Città della Scienza, after the fire on March 4th.
