Music and astronomy at the Mandoline concert Under the Stars at Piazza del Plebiscito for the Night of San Lorenzo 2016!
Wednesday 10 August 2016, la Night of San Lorenzo, will be held in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples, the suggestive free concert Mandolines Under the Stars, with dozens of mandolinists.
The ancient melodies of the repertoire of the Neapolitan classic song they will be played live by the historic Neapolitan Mandolin Academy "Mauro Squillante". Mandolins and other plectrum instruments will make their sweet notes ring out in the sea wind.
Among the guests there will also beUnion of Neapolitan Astrophiles (UAN) who will show us about the vision of the famous Tears of St. Lawrence, the luminous meteors known as Perseids.
With the support of telescopes and the explanation of UAN experts we will observe the Moon and Planets and at midnight, when the lights go out, the Enchanted Square will turn into an open-air planetarium, where everyone can wait to drop their star and make a wish.
The evening will be presented by the actress Francesca Morgante, the intervention of the singers Gloria Greco, Lello Giulivo, Valentina Assorto, Alessandro Lualdi and the students of the First International Mandolin Campus.
