"Circle. Theater takes you far ”is the title of the 2018/2019 season of the Nuovo Teatro Sanità which aspires to become international.
“Circle. Theatre takes you far” is the title of the 2018/2019 season at the Nuovo Teatro Sanità , a title that expresses the aspiration of this precious venue in Piazzetta San Vincenzo to become international.
The term “Circle” could not have been more appropriate for the representation of the plays chosen and produced for this sixth theatrical season, because it evokes the “circularity of culture without walls and barriers, but above all in the free circulation of ideas, necessary to reflect on the transformations that Europe is undergoing” , as stated by Mario Gelardi, director of the Nuovo Teatro Sanità.
The idea of disseminating ideas and plays, especially at the European level, arose after Cities on the Edge , the international cooperation project between the Nuovo Teatro Sanità in Naples and two other theaters in Marseille and the Ruhr region in Germany. "This is where the idea for a season that creates a small observatory on what's being produced in Europe stems, and for the Sanità district to become a European theater hub for a few months, fostering mutual understanding and intercultural exchange."
Circle Festival, the project that opens the 2018 / 2019 theater season
The sixth season of the Nuovo Teatro Sanità includes the Circle Festival , a series of five shows performed by companies composed primarily of artists under 35. One author from each foreign country—Germany, Spain, and Greece—and four authors from Italy were involved.

"Burning Europe ," written and directed by Mario Gelardi, is inspired by several shocking terrorist attacks, revealing them from untold perspectives. It's not about the fear, but about the grotesqueness it generates in our lives.

“The Face of Another” by Greek author Jannis Papazoglou (translated by Giorgia Karvunaki), starring Giulia Visaggi and Marcello Manzella and featuring Armando De Giulio, directed by Gianni Spezzano.

“Patroclus and Achilles” by Italian playwright Fabio Casano, starring Giampiero De Concilio and Alessandro Palladino, directed by Gennaro Maresca.

"The Kiwis of Naples ," by German author Philipp Löhle, premiered in August in the German city of Herne at the "Pottfiction" festival, starring Vincenzo Antonucci, Luigi Bignone, Anna De Stefano, Simone Fiorillo, Carlo Geltrude, Gaetano Migliaccio, Federica Totaro, and Beatrice Vento. Adapted and directed by Carlo Geltrude, with artistic direction by Mario Gelardi.
