Pomigliano Jazz Festival 2019, the concert program of the new edition!
From 2019st to XNUMXth September XNUMX in Campania back to the Pomigliano Jazz Festival. After the preview in July with the saxophonist's concerts Charles Lloyd on the Gran Cono del Vesuvio and that of Snarky Puppy and of the Mimmo Langella Trio at the Roman amphitheater of Avella, the festival conceived and directed by Onofrio Piccolo enter the heart.
The first week of September will see concerts, dj set, artistic performances, Turistic itineraries and food and wine tours: all events scattered in the municipalities of Vesuvius and Lower Irpinia with unpublished shows and original productions, as well as exclusive national ones, such as the tributes to Rino Zurzolo and to Gato Barbieri and a curious itinerant live in Circumvesuviana.
It was said that to characterize this second part of Pomigliano Jazz will be a duty tribute to Rino Zurzolo: it will be paid to him by the Neapolitan Jazz Orchestra directed by Mario Raja, who September 4th will bring the music of Pino Daniele's historic double-bass player to the stage set up in the Invaso del Public Park in Pomigliano d'Arco.
Among the guests of the concert, the brothers Francesca and Marco Zurzolo, his wife and flutist Valentina Crimaldi, the saxophonist Gabriella Grossi, the guitarist Antonio Onorato, the trumpeter Giovanni Amato, the saxophonist Gavino Murgia and the French percussionist Mino Cinelu (already alongside Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter).
For the municipalities of Fifteen, Roccarainola e Sirignano the festival intended to celebrate the "religious festival" ritual. And he does it his way, calling the Band MVM by saxophonist Marco Zurzolo who, in every municipality, will celebrate the rite of the traveling band by re-reading the popular music of the processional tradition. The MVM will start at Fifteen on September 1st, at the opening of the festival, to then carry his folk / jazz folk in procession in Circunvesuviana, Friday 6 September.
It starts from the station in Naples to then touch the stations of Pomigliano d'Arco and Roccarainola, until arriving in Sirignano in the evening for an exhibition at Palazzo Caravita.
In closing, Sunday 8 September, in the wonderful setting of the Emblema Museum of Terzigno, on the eastern side of Vesuvius, an Italian exclusive with the project Rymden: protagonist is the Norwegian pianist Bugge Wesseltoft, with him also the Swedish pianist, Esbjörn Svensson, as well as his colleagues Dan Berglund (double bass) and Magnus Öström (drums and percussion).
Co-financed by the Tourism Department of the Campania Region with European funds and the MiBAC, the 2019 festival is organized by the Pomigliano Jazz Foundation and the Municipality of Pomigliano d'Arco, in collaboration with the municipalities of Avella, Qundici, Roccarainola, Sirignano and Terzigno .
