The largest ice nativity scene in Italy returns to Ischia with the representation of the submerged city of Baia!

Also this year the Italy's largest ice crib will stop at Ischia, one of the most famous islands in the province of Naples.

The impressive Christmas artwork can be visited from the 26 December 2015 to the 6 January 2016, day of the Befana. The nativity scene was created by the artists of the Phlegraean area Amelio Mazzella and his nephew Mimmo and has just returned from a successful tour that has touched Veneto and Emilia Romagna.

The two talented artists of Monte di Procida and Bacoli have carefully carved all the ice statues, giving shape and life to the traditional shepherds of the Neapolitan nativity scene.
For this Christmas, there will also be an original novelty: in the artistic installation the submerged archaeological finds of Baia, to give value to the splendid works of art present in the famous submerged city.

The crib weighs well 18 tons and i King Magi will have turbans made of shells and sea horses at the camel post, just to refer to the submerged ruins of the Phlegraean waters. The work will be exhibited at the Aragonese Castle of Ischia Ponte.
