Job Covatta wonders what would happen to the Earth if the temperature rose by 6 degrees and does so with irony and irreverence

What would happen if our body temperature increased by 6%? Surely our organism would not withstand variation and stop living.

The same thing would happen, and is happening, to our planet if there were a temperature rise of such magnitude. And it is precisely what Giobbe Covatta wants to convey with his new show, “Sei degrees”, on stage at Troisi Theater of Naples up to 23 February 2014.

A few years loyal to numerical citations, Giobbe Covatta also this time refers to a number (after "7", the deadly sins and "30", the articles of the Charter of Human Rights) to raise awareness among the public on a fundamental issue such as that of global warming.

Through the language of theater and comedy, and to a careful and precise scientific disclosure, the Neapolitan actor therefore wants to continue his committed path and does so withirony andirreverence that distinguish it.
With the expedient of a future setting (his character lives in 2114) he hypothesizes what could happen to the Earth if the temperature increases by 1 degree every twenty years or so, up to the "6 degrees" that give the show its title .

In order to do so, Covatta does not neglect the great themes of our actuality, indeed it is precisely through them that we ask how our posterity could live in a future increasingly dominated by technology and from the worsening of the political and economic situation.
In this way, through the experiences and the bizarre inventions of our descendants, we are able to imagine the future scenarios that humanity will be able to face if adequate measures are not taken.

Of course, the jokes of the show do not spare anyone: i thieves politicians and far from the problems of the people, the continuous worsening of public health, the decay of the values of the Church, the labor market that no longer gives the chance, the diffidence towards the different.

Although some jokes go into topics that deviate a little from the main theme, Covatta also manages to involve his public, almost always involved and amused. Through some songs or, for example, the invitation to a spectator to go on stage, Covatta is always capable of making the spectators laugh.

In this way, almost taking them by the hand, leads them in reflections that are less and less fun and carefree: what are we doing for the future of our children and grandchildren? Will they forgive us for how we are treating the planet? Once we reach the fateful rise of 6 degrees, the Earth can no longer afford the survival of human beings. How can we avoid this?

Here, so, laughter is transformed, as the show reaches its conclusion, in bitter smiles. Because come to the awareness that man does not live without the planet, but the planet can live without man……. The question that everyone is inevitably forced to ask themselves, once the curtain falls, is: why?
