The evocative cloister of San Lorenzo Maggiore in Naples will host the beloved drama of Romeo and Juliet!
Who doesn't know the story of the two Shakespearean lovers? The timeless drama of Romeo e Giulietta will go on stage from 28 July 2016 to 18 May 2017, with various appointments, in the church of San Lorenzo Maggiore in Naples and at the Politeama Theater.
The frame will be the setting for the representation wonderful cloister, in which the events of the Montagues and Capulets will relive. The first Neapolitan date will be that of the debut: the show will continue his tour in the medieval castles of southern Italy, from the Baronial Castle of Castellabate to the Malconsiglio Castle near Matera.
The direction is by Domenico Maria Corrado, while the music is inspired by the masterpieces of Nino Rota. By establishing ainteraction with the public, the actors will express all their creativity acting in the middle of the spectators, without the traditional stage and without prefabricated sets.
The same William Shakespeare will be on stage to tell the story of the two lovers. For this version the form of the Italian Musical Comedy was chosen, whose origins date back to the eighteenth century.
