From 12 to 16 August 2023, the picturesque town of Samnite Joy (CE) is preparing to host the 24th edition of the “Festival of Ancient Flavors“. This celebration, curated by the "Pro Loco Gioiese", is recognized as one of the most significant culinary events in the provinces of Caserta and Benevento and aims to enhance and promote the renowned local cuisine.

What do you eat at the festival

Located in the heart of the historic center, precisely in the suggestive St. John Paul II Square, the stands will open at 20:30, offering a wide range of dishes. Guests can delight themselves with:

Pasta: including pappardelle, tagliatelle, scialatielli and fusilli with porcini mushrooms, gnocchi with mutton sauce, tagliolini with beans and pork rinds, and many other variations.
Second courses: they include fried, Tripe, various meats such as pork with peppers and mutton stew.
Snacks and appetizers: bruschetta with tomato and porcini mushrooms, aubergine roast, stuffed peppers, among others.
Grilled cooking: roasted of various types, fried pizzas with different toppings, and the unforgettable caciocavallo hanged.
Accompaniments: French fries, meats and cheeses local and a large selection of fruit e desserts.

Each dish will be further enhanced by the use of the acclaimed oil produced in the hills of Gioia.

Shows and other activities

Alongside these delicacies, the festival does not neglect the importance of drinks. Particular attention will be paid to the selection of wines, introducing products obtained from ancient local winemaking techniques, in addition to the classics falanghina, pious e pallagrello. For those who prefer alternatives, they will also be available beer e liquor craft.

With over 1000 seats available, guests will be able to immerse themselves in a vibrant and nostalgic atmosphere, surrounded by the serenity of the streets of Gioia Sannitica, and with the backdrop of the medieval Castle. An evening full of folklore, culture and tradition is promised, reliving the genuineness and industriousness of past times.
