Chestnut Festival in San Rufo, Salerno: typical dishes and folklore

After having told you about the festival of Partenio chestnut in Cervinara (Avellino), we move to Salerno precisely to San Rufo for another food and wine event based always on chestnut fruit.

A real journey of taste also accompanied by traditions that make up a classic popular party. In the historic center of San Rufo, the event will take place Sunday 30 October and Monday 31 October 2022 starting from 19:00.

In addition to being the culinary tastings a basis of chestnuts, of which we will speak with precision later, the festival makes available to gastronomic pavilions who will show off all the Folklore local. Between entertainment for adults and children, music, dancing and fun, it will be possible to taste the famous local chestnuts cooked in many ways.

Main Menu

  • Parmatieddi chestnut flour, baked pumpkin soup, porcini mushrooms, Sanrufese sausage and chestnuts
  • Pork loin baked with rosemary flavored with chestnuts and wild mint
  • Gourmet pizza with chestnut flour, cream of pumpkin, fiordilatte, capocollo di San Rufo with pecorino cheese and crumbled chestnuts.
  • Trio of Sweets: chestnut, chestnut cake, sbrisolana biscuits.

Not just good food, but street performers too

This appointment merges with the first edition of "San Rufo Buskers Festival - Street Artists Route" which will make the days even more characteristic. The group "Folk music" will entertain guests with pizzica and taranta on October 30th, while on October 31st the scene will be dedicated to Alessandro Bolide (Made in the South).
