Local gastronomy, entertainment and guided visits to the hazelnut and chestnut festival in Avella
From 9 to 11 October 2015, the autumn appointment with the Festival of hazelnut and chestnut in Avella, in the Avellino area, organized by the “I Rami del Melo” Association.
The mountain village of Avella is renowned just for the production of hazelnuts, which during the foreign dominations crossed the regional borders, so much so that the corresponding name of the fruit in Spanish is 'Avellana'.
During the event, a tasty menu will be created with typical local products, such as chestnut, porcini mushroom and wild boar meat. The succulent dishes, among which there will be the linguine walnuts and anchovies, penne with porcini mushrooms, rigatoni with wild boar sauce, the fagiolata with cotechini, the sausage and broccoli sandwich, the roast chestnuts, the nougat, will be accompanied by the Aglianico wine and draft beer.
There will be entertainment and for culture lovers, exclusively in the morning, they will be able to visit for free and accompanied by a guide, i enchanting historical sites of the city , such as the Roman Amphitheater, the Roman Tombs, the Norman Castle and the Ducal Palace.
