For Valentine's Day 2018, an artist exhibits 800 Naples painted on eggs in Piazza dei Martiri, in homage to the poet Virgil!

On the occasion of Valentine's Day 2018, the February 14 the master craftsman Franco De Stefano has decided to pay homage to the city of Naples by exhibiting in Piazza dei Martiri its Napul'egg collection.

These are landscaped views of the splendid city of Naples in the 800s painted on eggs, whose spherical and three-dimensional surface has a lava stone base embellished with coral spills.

The choice to use an egg has a symbolic value linked to the poet Virgil with the legend of his egg-talisman, perhaps deposited in the Castel dell'Ovo, to prevent its rupture from causing the ruin of the city he loved so much.

The artist wants rediscovering symbols, objects, myths, legends and imagesi of the historical tradition of Naples that does not give up in the face of difficulties and this egg embodies the fragile soul of the city but above all its germinating force for a new life for a people that is strongly linked to its land.

Furthermore, during the installation, the artist will ask those present a question: who is able to bring the city of Naples to its former glory? The person who will receive the most votes from this survey will come honored by a work from the Napul'egg collection.
