Sunday 23 October a bronchospasm blocked the breathing of the former senator who called 118 and in a few minutes the doctors arrived on the spot. Soon after, he lost consciousness and was transported to theRoman hospital Sant'Andrea in red code. He was sedated and intubated for two and a half days. Only yesterday he told what he went through, thanking the doctors, nurses and the whole hospital in the capital. He also expressed his gratitude to the friends who prayed for him.

He was subsequently extubated and after spending a few days in intensive care they transported him to the ward. He will stay in the hospital for some time and then undergo rehabilitation: he will have to follow a very restrictive diet and will have to permanently stop to smoke.
