At a time when the dramatic news coming from Turkey find prominence in national and international media, it is appropriate to speak also of those who have been dealing with Turkey for some time. Marco Cesario is a Neapolitan journalist, with a solid philosophical background, a few years particularly attentive to the events on censorship in Turkey.

Friday 14nd June, at 18, will be present at the Eastern University of Naples, at the Palazzo Giusso, to present the book Sansür. This is an interesting journalistic investigation into the censorship that Turkish journalists under the government of Erdoğan have undergone, and undergo.

Cesario will talk about the difficulties faced day by day by the world of Turkish journalism, forced to deal with the repressive and intimidating methods of the AKP Islamic government.
The book is also a photo report and aims to make us understand what really lies behind the summary trials and the ad hoc accusations directed at journalists who dare to criticize power and try to spread the truth.

In the book, "written in the form of memory made up of encounters, reflections, dramatic events"interviews, letters and conversations with arrested journalists were also included.
During the meeting, we will also talk about  #OccupyGezi, the largest and most widespread anti-AKP movement in Turkey, calling for more democracy, justice and truth from Erdoğan's government. Movement that is receiving support and solidarity also from citizens of European countries, Neapolitans included.

So, the appointment to deepen these issues is for next Friday. To accompany Marco Cesario, there will also be the Turkish journalist Murat Cinar, the teacher of Turkish literature and specialist of Turkey at the Oriental in Naples, Lea Nocera, recently returned from Istanbul. They will join them Stefano Secondino, Ansa editor and Mediterranean expert, and Antonietta Benedetti, director of the Bianca & Volta publishing house.

After the presentation of the book, it will be possible to attend the screening of videos showing the protest of the young people of #OccupyGezi and of the short film “Discomfort of the pigeon” by Ugur Altun, a video shot in 2011 and dedicated to all Turkish journalists in prison.
