An evening like many others was interrupted by an event that shook the tranquility of Naples and its inhabitants. An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 3.5.

What time was the earthquake

As the clocks ticked 19:45, the earth has decided to make its presence felt, disturbing the quiet of the Neapolitan evening.
In the blink of an eye, discussions and laughter were put aside, leaving room for a single concern: safety.

What was the size and magnitude of the shock

The earthquake had its epicenter in the Campi Flegrei, an area already at the center of attention for its volcanic activity.
At a surface depth of only 1,7 kilometers, the event had an immediate and marked perception, making every second experienced particularly long and intense.

The magnitude detected so far was 3.6 but we await official confirmation which usually arrives within a few hours with the final calculation.

Where the earthquake was felt in Naples and its province

The earthquake spared no one. From the The Space cinema, where the screen suddenly went black, ai Vesuvian countries like Portici and San Giorgio a Cremano, anxiety spread like a wave.

Areas even further from the centre, such as Pozzuoli and Quarto, clearly felt the shock, so much so that it was also recorded by the seismographs of Campobasso, in Molise.

  • Vesuvian countries: In particular, Portici and San Giorgio a Cremano were affected by the earthquake.
  • Phlegraean area: Including areas such as Pozzuoli and Quarto.
  • Area north of Naples: Including locations such as Villaricca, Mugnano and Marano.
  • Campobasso, in Molise: The quake was also recorded by seismographs in the region.
