Update: we initially reported the news of the earthquake located in Caserta, but from the INGV they communicated that it was their mistake since in reality the quake was in the Campi Flegrei with a magnitude of 1.7. Due to the association of these signals with other unrelated but simultaneous shocks, there was an error in localization.

At about 16.10 pm on Friday 16 July 2021 one felt earthquake in the province of Caserta in the Campo Flegrei between Naples and Pozzuoli, as communicated by the INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology).

The first news published on the official Twitter of INGV Earthquakes erroneously spoke no of a provisional estimate for the Magnitude of the detectable Richter scale between 3.2 and 3.7 and connected to Caserta.

In fact, the shock it was located in the Phlegraean Fields and was warned in some areas of Naples and Pozzuoli where some citizens have clearly perceived the movement and the noise of the earth under their feet.
