The Neapolitan percussionist Tony Esposito will present his latest album at the Feltrinelli in Naples, revisiting masterpieces of classical music

Tony Esposito he is one of the best percussionists of our lands and has the great merit of having made percussions known to the general public. And tomorrow 17st January will present his latest work at Feltrinelli in Piazza dei Martiri.

Born in Naples, he has always created his music mixing the traditional rhythms of many countries of the world to the Neapolitan sounds, in addition to tribal music and new sounds he invented. Many innovations that he has introduced in the musical field, among which there is certainly the tamborder, an instrument he invented that also gave the distinctive sound to one of his greatest hits, Kalimba del luna.

And about the genius related to the invention of a new musical instrument, Esposito himself told: “I said to myself: I play the drums, everyone's drums, but what is my drum? So I thought of combining a bit of modern electronics with what is instead the sound of Africa and born tamborder, which means frontier drum. An instrument that has been perfected but unique over the years is born ".

With Tam Tam Brass, his latest album, Tony, however, deviates from the typical tribal and Neapolitan sounds, following the path of classical music, revisited with the sound of his percussion. In fact, the works of Bach a Vivaldi, passing through those of Bizet and Monteverdi, are reinterpreted by the Neapolitan percussionist with instruments atypical for this musical genre, such as the djembe, castanets and tammorra.

These are instruments that, however, manage to give new life to these masterpieces of classical music. Furthermore, these pieces have been transcribed by Tony Esposito for the brass of theOrchestra of the Academy of Santa Cecilia, who collaborated with him on the genesis of the album.
