What is refugee status
Un refugee is a person forced to flee their country due to some kind of persecution and seeking shelter and protection in another country.
Refugee status is one form of international protection which protects people who suffer persecution, including because of the war as in the case of the Ukrainians.
By obtaining this type of status, the human rights and fundamental freedoms set out in the Geneva Convention are protected.
