For the WWF Oasis Day 2015, there will be a guided tour of the Astroni Nature Reserve
The Econote cultural association has organized, for the 24 may 2015, a guided tour to the Phlegrean crater of the Astroni, WWF Nature Reserve.
Initially, the Astroni were thermal baths, which disappeared after the arrangement of the forest commissioned by Charles of Bourbon. Later they became a hunting reserve at the behest of Alfonso da Aragona while, during the Second World War, the crater was used as a weapons depot. Currently it is an oasis of protection and refuge for the sedentary and migratory fauna, owned by the state and managed by the WWF.
The guided tour for the excursion (which will last 3 hours), will start fromancient Bourbon path, made in clay and composed of about 160 steps, up to descend to the bottom of the crater, where a difference in level of 80 meters is created.
At a later time, participants will be able to freely visit the various ones stand set up for the WWF Oasis Day, have a packed breakfast in the designated areas or walk around, enjoying the clean air of the place.
It is advisable to wear closed shoes e comode and wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts to avoid attracting insects.
One will also be active Free Shuttle Service which will connect the entrance of the Astroni Reserve to the area in front of the entrance to the Agnano racecourse (Gate A). Those who want to park their car will have to do so near the racecourse and it will not be possible to park near the oasis.
