The guided tour of the Synagogue of Naples will lead to the discovery of the Neapolitan Jewish community and its ancient history.
La Synagogue of Naples it is the point of reference for the Neapolitan Jewish community and for those of Southern Italy. The 4 March 2018 you will have the opportunity to discover this sacred place thanks to the guided tour organized by the Loro association of Naples, a path led by Dr. Claudia Campagnano.
To accommodate the synagogue is the eighteenth-century Palazzo Sessa, located in the heart of the Chiaia district. You will thus be able to know the history of an important part of the city, the Jewish community, which sinks its own roots in the first century. The Neapolitan Jews, today around 160, after having passed through favorable and unfavorable alternate periods, have lived one rebirth thanks to the Rotschild family, which in the nineteenth century allowed to establish the synagogue in its current location.
In order to participate, men are required to wear a hat of any kind. Inside it will not be allowed to take videos, but it is possible to take photos. Everyone will also be required to show an identity document.
