At the Royal Palace of Naples, visit the 18th century crib at the Palatine Chapel!

In December, on the occasion of Christmas , you can visit the 18th century crib preserved in the Royal Palace of Naples. These are four events, the 6, the 9, the 13 and the 19 December 2016, organized by the Educational Service of the Royal Palace. Appointment in the Palatine Chapel for a guided tour that will allow you to appreciate the crib collection of the Banco di Napoli, which over the years has brought together various collections with the aim of reproducing the model of the eighteenth-century Neapolitan nativity scene.

The Nativity is composed of 210 characters (shepherds, angels, bagpipers, musicians with violin and mandolin, card players, the fishmonger, the castagnara, a cooper with a cart, a grinder, beggars, hunchbacks, cripples, woman with child) and 144 accessories (the fountain, the blacksmith shop, the silhouette of Vesuvius, the bridge, the oven, the pagan temple, various animals).

Most of these elements were made by famous artists of the past and masters of the nativity scene, including Angelo Viva, Lorenzo Mosca, Salvatore Franco, Francesco Celebrano and Giuseppe Sammartino, author of the “Veiled Christ” present in the Sansevero Chapel.

To access the guided tour admission is free, but you must have the museum ticket.
